Players on college rosters
If you play college soccer in the United States, your college may publish a roster with your name and a few details. ScoutPath may hold a copy of some of it. This page explains what, why, for how long, and what you can ask. It is written for you, the player; the full text is in the privacy policy.
What ScoutPath may hold about you
- Kept: name, jersey number, position, class year, redshirt status, listed eligibility, height, hometown, previous college or club, with the address of the page it came from and the date it was read.
- Never kept, even when the page shows it: high school, field of study, weight, link to the biography page, captain status.
- No contact details, photos, statistics about your private life, or anything from social media.
Where it comes from
- The roster your college publishes on its official athletics website.
- Or a roster sent by your program's coaching staff, once ScoutPath has verified that they work for the program.
Why it is used
ScoutPath is software for agencies that help athletes find a US college program. It uses rosters to describe programs: how many players each position has, how many are in their last year, how many come from abroad. That helps an agency see which programs could have room for an athlete. ScoutPath does not:
- contact you, or let agencies use rosters to contact or market to you (the agency terms forbid it);
- sell lists of players, or use your data for advertising;
- rate or rank you as a player, or decide anything about you.
The legal basis claimed is legitimate interest. It is being reviewed by counsel, together with the right to reuse each roster. Until that right is established for a roster, the commercial version does not show or use it.
How long
The current season and the previous one (2 seasons). Arrivals and departures detected between two readings are kept 24 months. Older seasons are deleted automatically.
What you can ask
- A copy of what ScoutPath holds about you.
- A correction if something is wrong (for example your position or hometown).
- Deletion. We delete it and add a keyed fingerprint of your name to a suppression list, so that ScoutPath does not collect it again even if your college still publishes it.
- Objection or restriction: that we stop using it, or use it only in limited ways.
Use the personal data request form (choose “A player on a college roster”) or write to contact@scoutpath.eu. We answer within 30 days and may first ask you to confirm who you are. A parent or guardian can ask for a player under 18. To change what your college publishes, contact your college.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to a data protection authority. ScoutPath is established in France, where the authority is the CNIL (Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés).
